After 3 frustrating days of waiting for wind the 2016 nationals are over.
Thursday and Friday offered up the minimum required to squeeze through 7 rounds of racing.
Saturday was supposed to bring the big winds, unfortunately the wind was a no show.
So in the end, on Thursday there were 5 rounds for the Gold fleet, Youth/Junior/Womens & 2 rounds for the Silver. On Friday managed another 2 rounds for all Fleets.
That allowed a result for the event & winners were found for all the fleets.

NEW 2016 Fanatic Standup paddle board – THE STUBBY

The Fanatic Stubby represents a new approach to wave board design. Inspired by modern surfing concepts with a compact outline and more parallel rails.
The Fanatic Stubby combines good stability and ease of use of a bigger board, but with speed and radical responsiveness of a smaller board.
A new sensation that will give you a blast!
THE CONCEPT –
Fanatic Stubby -The wide nose enables a longer and cleaner rail line, which gives loads of hold on the wave face and through the turns even though the board is quite short

The wide nose and tail enables the rider to select a slightly smaller board in terms of length and volume (as an example, the Stubby 8’2″ is comparable to an 8’9″ ProWave).
The extra stability allows for less volume and a slightly narrower centre.
Straighter, more parallel outline for a cleaner waterline and reduced dragShort and wide “Stubby-Nose” – reduced to the boards effective lengths […]

Fanatic Stubby

Stepping on the Stubby for the first time instantly removes any doubts  about the board design.

The wide double diamond tail features a channel for extra grip and drive, the large MFC Tri Fin set supports tight turning and offers incredible lift and upwind performance.
While the tail and nose sections are extremely wide, the centre of the board is narrower, giving a clean water flow and reduced drag.
The combination of the V bottom with slight double concaves, makes the Stubby  extremely fast and controlled.
Once on your first wave, the longer effective rail line comes into play and gives you a new sensation of stability in the bottom turn. Having the stance far back on the wide tail allows for fast and tight reactions and turns.
Due to a rocker line, that is adapted to the boards length and it’s trim, the wide nose always recovers, even after a steep re-entry.
With its speed and control […]
